International Trade – Portland’s Economic Engine | Portland Business Alliance October Forum
October 16, 7:30 to 8:45 a.m.
Governor Hotel, 614 S.W. 11th (registration closes October 15 at 3 p.m.)
Did you know that thanks to access to one of the best multimodal transportation hubs on the West Coast, our region reaps huge benefits from efficient and cost-effective connections to domestic and international markets?
International trade accounts for almost half a million jobs Oregon-wide with more than half of those in the Portland-metro area. The city’s working harbor is home to scores of companies involved in trade that employ thousands of workers and support hundreds of local small and medium sized companies through contracting.
International trade also supports employment at supermarkets, doctors’ offices, car repair shops and other retail and service businesses serving the companies and their workers. Three new economic studies produced by the Value of Jobs Coalition reveal just how critical international trade and the port are to the vitality of Oregon and the region’s economy.
Join regional leaders at a forum next week as they unveil the results of three inter-related studies about international trade and marine industrial businesses engaged in trade activity. To register, visit the Portland Alliance website.
