Two international trade-related conferences scheduled for Oct. 2, and Oct. 3-4 are expected to draw shippers and transportation providers to Portland from across the region to discuss export opportunities, transportation infrastructure and related issues.
With more than $22 billion in exports annually, the Portland-metro region is considered an export “powerhouse.” That’s why the Port of Portland is one of many to sponsors these events.
The Portland Export Gateway Summit will take place on Oct. 2 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will include a variety of topics such as, exports in the global economy, transportation and freight mobility and a special lunch panel titled, “Beans, Brew and Bikes,” which will take a look at the freight infrastructure challenges of three distinctly Portland products. Admission is free.
The Northwest Global Freight Conference hosted by Cargo Business News will occur on Oct. 3-4, and focus on the global supply chain’s vital connection to the region and its developing infrastructure. This two-day event will feature a broad spectrum of cargo types, ranging from containers to autos, project cargoes to bulk commodities, airfreight and more. Cost to register at Northwest Global Conference is $345.
Other event sponsors include Westwood Shipping Lines, Vigor Industrial, the International Refrigerated Transportation Association, Columbia Colstor, Inc. and the Ports of Seattle, Tacoma, Longview and Coos Bay.
