ICTSI Oregon, Inc. Receives International Business Award

ICTSI Oregon, Inc., the company responsible for container and breakbulk operations at the Port’s marine Terminal 6, received the Foreign Direct Investment Business Award at the Annual International Awards and Scholarship Dinner in Portland on May 15.

Presented by the Oregon Consular Corps and the City of Portland, the awards celebrate globally-focused businesses in Oregon. Jose L. Cuisia, Jr., Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the United States of America, and Portland Mayor Sam Adams presented the award to Elvis Ganda, Chief Executive Officer of ICTSI Oregon, Inc.

“It was an honor to be recognized alongside other successful colleagues from the business community in our region,” said Ganda. “Our first year in Portland has been characterized by a lot of hard work and long hours, and we appreciate the recognition of how our investment and growth positively impacts the local economy.”

In addition to ICTSI Oregon, Inc., honorees included:

  • Intel Corporation – Global Leader
  • Columbia Steel Casting Co., Inc. – Export Leader
  • Chris King Precision Components – Small Business Exporter
  • DECK Monitoring – Small Business Exporter

ICTSI Oregon, Inc. began operations at the Port of Portland’s Terminal 6 in February 2011, ushering in a new era of management at the Columbia River’s only deep draft container terminal. The relationship continues to better position Portland as an international cargo gateway with incentive to grow the business here in Portland, and the initial results are encouraging.

Portland saw a 9% increase in container traffic and an impressive 27% increase in full export containers in 2011. Productivity is up as well, and during the month of May, the longstanding single shift production record at Terminal 6 was broken, averaging 47.75 gross moves per hour.

In March, the Port and ICTSI Oregon, Inc. welcomed a newly expanded weekly containership service offered by Hapag-Lloyd and Hamburg Süd that connects the Pacific Northwest and the Mediterranean with improved regularity and reach. Increased activity at the terminal is making the most of the recently deepened Columbia River navigation channel.

ICTSI Oregon, Inc. is a subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. – one of the top five global independent terminal operating companies in the world.
